TV/Film Safety & Health Risk Management Package

The project involved taking six presenters and 20 television crew to one of the most extreme, remote and austere places on earth, for three and a half weeks and ensuring their safety. Lion Television employed Remote Trauma to take the team to the Danakil (or Dallol) Depression, Afar Region, Northern Ethiopia so they could produce a five part documentary.

The daily hazards involved working around and in live volcanoes, living and working in extreme heat averaging between 40 to 55 degrees, kidnap and the ever present risk of war breaking out between Eritrea and Ethiopia over a border demarcation dispute.

Through a combination of meticulous planning, specialist training, comprehensive safety plans and the provision of a round the clock on location medical / safety advisor, we were able to minimize, control and safely manage the exposure to risk in an uncertain, challenging environment.
