From Extreme Altitude to Extreme Heat
12 January 2009

For the third year running Remote Trauma was asked to provide medical /
safety training plus advice and on location support for another one of Ben
Fogle’s television adventures. The aim of this year’s adventure called “Extreme
Dreams the Ultimate Challenge” was for Ben to lead four teams of selected
members of the public on a gruelling expedition that started on the Equator in
Ecuador and ended on the Tropic of Capricorn in Chile.

The trip involved a high altitude ascent to 6,300m on Mount Chimborazo
in Ecuador, trekking through the Amazon rainforest in Manu, Peru, descending
into Cotahuasi, the world’s deepest Canyon and crossing the Atacama Desert,
officially the driest place on earth.

While the production was incredibly ambitious, very demanding and fraught with danger, Remote Trauma's management of the risks ensured the production was a great success. The series will be broadcast daily from 12th January 2009 for four consecutive weeks on BBC2 at 6.30pm.
