27 December 2006

Royal Naval Surgeon, Lieutenant Commander Andy Brown who has advised and worked on several television productions for Remote Trauma, including ITV’s hugely popular series of ITV’s “Bad Lads Army” has reached the South Pole.

Andy is taking part in an ambitious bid to be one of the first service personnel to trek to the South Pole since Scott of the Antarctic’s ill-fated expedition almost a century ago. Arriving at the landmark on the 27th December 2007, the Polar Quest Team lead by Captain Sean Chapple Royal Marines. Raised the Union Flag, White Ensign and a replica flag of Captain Scott.

Andy is part of a team of four who are nearly two thirds of their way through the 1,450-mile return trip, which they are hoping to complete in less than 20 days. The team so far have braved temperatures of least -25C and have described the trip as the most physically demanding of their lives.
